Grow Your Own Bean Soup Class

Presented by the UCCE Master Gardeners and Master Food Preservers of Amador County

Saturday, April 18, 2015
9 - 12 Noon

Are you planning your summer garden and thinking about the meals you’ll enjoy with the fresh vegetables? Curious about how to store or preserve your future abundant harvest so nothing goes to waste? Want to learn some tips so that when you’re ready to make a soup with your home grown vegetables the assembly is fast and easy?

Join the UCCE Master Gardeners and Master Food Preservers of Amador County as they teach you how to grow, store and cook a delicious bean soup.

First, Master Gardeners will explain how to prepare the soil, choose the plants, grow and harvest the soup’s main ingredient: beans. Second, Master Food Preservers will demonstrate how to store, dry and freeze these ingredients, followed by a quick assembly of those dried, stored and frozen products to cook a great bean soup.

Location: Amador County GSA Building, 12200-B Airport Road, Jackson
Free; no reservations required.
