Assign a Virtual Fence
To activate a VF, simply select the entire herd or individual animals, choose the desired VF, and click send. The instructions are transmitted via a cellular network to the collars on the animals out on the range. Most collars update within a few minutes to an hour. If an animal is outside of cell reception or out of range of a base station, its collar won't update until the animal returns to an area with reception. Some companies also offer the option to schedule VFs to turn on or off automatically, streamlining the process even further. Last, some companies also offer the producer to connect to the collars via Bluetooth if they’re standing next to the herd. This offers a very fast way to make updates to the collars.
Since VFs act like a one-way gate, you can activate the fence first, then move the animals into the enclosed area.
