Tracking Livestock Locations
The VF user interface offers several useful tools to let the livestock producer visualize where their herd is located over time.
Single Animal Tracking: You can monitor the location and movement of an individual animal, providing detailed insights into its trail and behavior.
Featured below is the location data for a single animal wearing a Gallagher collar. The physical fence is shown in white, and the VF boundary is shown in an orange and black line. The yellow location times are connected chronologically by lines, showing the animals movements over the course of a day.
Entire Herd Tracking: This feature creates a heat map of the whole herd’s movements, helping you visualize grazing patterns and area usage across the pasture.
Featured below is a Gallagher heatmap. The physical fence is marked in white, while the virtual fence boundary is shown with an orange and black line. The scale bar at the bottom indicates the time represented by each color. Warmer colors highlight areas where the herd spent the most time, while cooler colors indicate where they spent the least.
Location Time Lapse: By viewing time-lapsed heat maps, you can analyze changes in herd movement and behavior over specific periods, aiding in understanding patterns and making informed management decisions.
